Today was a pretty good day. I managed to get a lot of stuff done around the house, went bowling with the family, and then got some reading in. I just finished reading the book Dark Matter. I liked this book a lot. I don’t want to give anything away because part of the fun of it for me was all the twists. But someone described it as a popcorn action thriller that’s a love story, and wrapped in science fiction. I’d say that’s a fair assessment and I definitely recommend giving it a chance if you like those themes rolled together. It really had me guessing what was going to happen next, and I can’t think of a moment where it seemed too cliché, which is a good thing. It was also a fairly quick, fast paced, read so it shouldn’t take long to get through it. At some point, I’ll try to watch the tv show to see how it lives up to it.
I got a few new books recently for father’s day, but I think the next book I’m starting is The Gone World by Thomas Sweterlitsch. It was described as inception meets true detective. Seems interesting nonetheless.
I also got these little notebook games from Paper Apps. They seem pretty cool. Little games you can play with some dice and a pencil. Each one is a different theme, as shown in the picture above. I’m excited to try them out. We’ve been trying to make time each day where we disconnect form our devices and do something without technology for an hour or so, so these seem like a good fit for that occasion.
